Two city police officers suffered minor injuries during an altercation in which they were forced to Taser a man after a complaint about noise turned violent on Sunday.
Brockville police officers responding to a noise complaint at the Travel Lodge on Kent Boulevard at 2:50 a.m. on February 10 were confronted by a group of intoxicated individuals, two of whom refused to comply with police’s orders to keep quiet.
City police say the individuals, a man and a woman, “engaged officers in a physical confrontation” and officers were forced to deploy a Taser device against the male in order to take him into custody.
While police were struggling with the male, the female suspect used “a blunt object” to strike the officers about their heads and necks, causing minor injuries to both.
Following a brief struggle, police arrested and charged Robert Gregory Kelly, 25, of Gatineau, Quebec, and 41-year-old Natalie Dagenais, of Buckingham, Quebec. Both face multiple charges of assault with a weapon, assaulting a peace officer and mischief. Kelly faces an additional charge of resisting arrest.
Both accused were held for bail.
