It’s the time of year when local politicians prepare for a big municipal conference, but in the age of COVID-19 nothing is the same.
The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) will host its annual conference Aug. 17 to 19, with the entire program happening online because of the pandemic.
More than 1,000 people are expected to participate in what organizers are calling “Canada’s most comprehensive gathering of government leaders since the global pandemic began.”
Premier Doug Ford and key provincial cabinet ministers are expected to be among the speakers, and as always there will be opportunities for municipal representatives to have one-on-one time with them.
“We want to talk about Maple View Lodge,” said United Counties of Leeds and Grenville Warden Pat Sayeau.
Counties officials have set up a delegation with Long-Term Care Minister Dr. Merrilee Fullerton, on the topics of theMaple View Lodge redevelopment, “potential changes in design standards and funding,” counties officials confirmed.
