POLICE: Break and enter suspect nabbed

Brockville Police charged a 30-year-old man with break and enter and breach of probation after responding to a break-in downtown on Thursday.

Police responded at 8 a.m. after a male suspect who had allegedly broken a window and entered Crazy Cowboy Music World on King Street West was located and arrested.

Officers took him to hospital for a previous untreated injury, police added Friday.

The accused was given a court date and released from custody.

Alarm leads to arrest

City police responded to an alarm call at the Brockville Public Library at about 10:40 a.m. Thursday, where they arrested a man.

Police located and arrested a 21-year-old man who was the subject of an arrest warrant from Cornwall police.

He was processed on those charges and released. Brockville police indicated it’s unknown what caused the alarm.

Young woman in crisis

Brockville Police deployed a conducted energy weapon to disarm a woman who was holding a knife to her throat early Friday morning.

Officers responded to a disturbance at a residence in the centre of the city just after midnight.

The call was for some sort of family crisis spiralling out of control, police said Friday.

Officers were met by a 22-year-old woman described as being in a state of crisis. They were forced to use the conducted energy weapon despite an officer’s attempt to defuse the situation through verbal interaction, police added.

The woman was taken into custody and taken to Brockville General Hospital for treatment. No charges were laid.

Hiding in bushes

A 48-year-old woman was held for a bail hearing after being arrested in Brockville on Wednesday.

City police were called at 4:50 p.m. about a woman who had been observed hiding in some bushes at a Water Street East residence.

The caller had more of a concern about the person’s well-being, police added. An officer located the woman and learned that she had an arrest warrant for failing to attend court.

Arrested for mischief

Brockville Police responded to a Buell Street residence on Thursday at 2:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a man who was yelling, screaming and had broken a window.

Officers arrested a 23-year-old man was located and arrested for mischief. He was held for a bail hearing.
