Driver impaired by drug

Brockville Police on Tuesday charged a man with impaired driving after administering a drug test.

At approximately 5:15 a.m., police found a local 38-year-old man passed out behind the wheel of his pickup truck, police reported Wednesday.

Police arrested the man for drug-impaired driving and escorted him to the station. He was then subjected to an exam by the force’s drug recognition expert and subsequently charged as a result of failing those tests, said police.

Police released the accused with a future court date, and had his vehicle towed.

Drugs found in traffic stop

City police on Tuesday night charged a woman and man with drug possession after searching a vehicle during a traffic stop.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on Buell Street for an improper headlight.

Further investigation of the vehicle revealed there to be a quantity of drugs inside of it, police added.

A 38-year-old woman was charged with possession of a controlled substance, while police charged a 34-year-old man with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a concealed weapon, and possession of property obtained by crime. He was also charged under the Cannabis Control Act.

Police also gave the male driver a ticket for the improper headlight. They were both released with a future court date.
