Three people face charges after provincial police raided a home just north of Maitland Wednesday, seizing a firearm and suspected crystal meth.
As part of an ongoing investigation, the Ontario Provincial Police’s East Region Community Street Crime Unit, with help from members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, and Grenville County Detachment, acted on a search warrant at a residence on Meadowview Drive, police reported Thursday.
Officers arrested three people and seized a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, suspected crystal methamphetamine, and other items associated with drug trafficking, police added.
Robert McWilliams, 35, of Augusta Township, has been charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a loaded, prohibited firearm, possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine).
The accused has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear by video before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville at a later date.
Angel McNeely, 31, of Perth, has been charged with three counts of failing to comply with an undertaking, while Jessie Barrie, 29, of Brockville, is charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance (methamphetamine).
Police released both those accused at the scene. They are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville at a later date.
