Empty boat on the river

Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police received numerous calls about an aluminum boat that was floating downstream on the St. Lawrence River on Monday evening.

Aerial units that were dispatched by the joint rescue coordination centre located the boat along the riverbank just west of Marine Station Road at about midnight.

There were no confirmed sightings of anyone in the boat, according to a police news release issued on Tuesday morning.

The aluminum boat has red detailing and a black motor. It was last reported on the river side of the canal and was not accessible by land. Anyone with information about the boat is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Woman on the tracks

Brockville Police responded to a call about a possibly suicidal person on the rail line north of Parkedale Avenue on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Officers apprehended a 20-year-old woman for her own safety under the Mental Health Act without incident and took her to Brockville General Hospital, said police.

Wanted on warrant

Shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Monday, officers with the Brockville Police Service located a 41-year-old man who had a warrant for his arrest.

Officers located the man at Brockville General Hospital while there for another matter, police reported on Tuesday.

The man had a warrant for his arrest stemming from an alleged domestic assault that occurred on March 23. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
