POLICE: Man, 69, badly hurt in crash

A 69-year-old Augusta Township man suffered life-threatening injuries in a car accident on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m.

Two cars collided on County Road 22 at Brouseville Road in Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Township. The driver of the other car had only minor injuries, according to Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit was on the scene until about 2 a.m. when the road was reopened.

The investigation continues.

Break-in at Lansdowne Fair offices

Leeds Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a break-and-enter at the Lansdowne Fair office on Prince Street.

Police were called Wednesday but the entry could have occurred anytime from Oct. 20 to then.

The fairground office and adjoining buildings had been broken into, ransacked and vandalized.

Motor vehicle collisions

Brockville police officers responded to four motor vehicle collisions in a four-hour span on Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Two of the collisions occurred at the same intersection: Front Avenue and Stewart Boulevard. None of the accidents resulted in any personal injury.

Shoplifting, public intoxication

A fight at a downtown-area convenience store foiled a brownie theft on Wednesday night.

An intoxicated 35-year-old man went into the Quickie store on William Street around 11 p.m. and tried to steal a brownie, city police reported.

Store staff confronted the man and a brief struggle ensued, police added.

A passerby contacted police to report a fight. Officers attended and arrested the man, who was held in custody and released when sober.
