POLICE: Suspect in bank fire

Brockville police have reported progress in their investigation of an early-morning incident at RBC Royal Bank earlier this month.

Someone lit a small fire in the ATM area on Feb. 7 and then left the scene; a passerby put out the fire and called police.

City police identified the suspect through CCTV footage; the suspect will be charged accordingly, police indicated in a release on Wednesday.

Break and enter attempted

City police responded to an alarm call on Buell Street at 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

The front door of the Developmental Services building had been kicked in, but entry was not gained.

Warrant subject arrested

A 40-year-old man wanted for failing to appear in court was arrested a short distance from the courthouse Tuesday afternoon.

City police responded to a suspicious male call in the Wall Street area at 3 p.m., according to a news release.

Officers recognized and apprehended the individual, for whom there was an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to appear in court, said police. He was held for a bail hearing.
