Brockville police believe a woman and girl arrested for theft earlier this week have been targeting communities along the Highway 401 corridor.
The accused were apprehended at Shoppers Drug Mart on Parkedale Avenue on Monday afternoon. Staff at the store had recognized a 50-year-old London woman from previous shoplifting incidents that resulted in the theft of more than $2,000 worth of perfume, according to a police news release issued on Tuesday.
City police reported on Thursday that a search warrant was executed on the vehicle seized in connection with Monday’s arrest. About $13,000 in merchandise suspected to be stolen was recovered. Items include electronics, cosmetics and health products.
The investigation continues.
The woman and the 14-year-old female girl were charged with theft on Monday and are to appear in court at a later date.
