The South Grenville Rangers rebounded in a big way.

Following their first loss of the season six days earlier, the Rangers routed the Morrisburg Lions 13-1 at Ingredion Centre in Cardinal on Saturday night. The victory boosted the Rangers’ lead in the National Capital Junior Hockey League’s West Division standings.

South Grenville’s Matthew Berry opened the scoring six minutes into the first period. The Lions tied the game later in the period on a nice individual effort by Aiden Daly. Cam Dillon made it 2-1 on what would prove to be the game-winner at 18:26 of the first, and Jacob McGonegal scored with 9.4 seconds left in the period to give the home team a 3-1 lead.

The Rangers went on to score four times in the second period and rack up six goals in the third. Jordie Dodge picked up a hat trick; Cole Edgley and call-up Rhys Gibbons each scored a pair, and McGonegal picked up his second goal of the night in the third. Jordan Poulin and Kyle Dillabough also scored for South Grenville.

Xavier Dusablon picked up the win in net for the Rangers. He leads the league with a goals-against average of 1.00 in three starts.

South Grenville (7-1) will host North Dundas in a rare Friday night home game in Cardinal. Note the late start; puck drops at 8:40.
